A Shining Example For All
Beyond performance, MMC Ports companies continued to set the gold standard within the
communities in which they operate, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to steadfast
stewardship and responsibility in everything that they do.
Johor Port
To champion sustainable waste management, Johor Port launched its
revolutionary FZP Initiative “Turning Waste into Value” - a composting
initiative to produce compost fertiliser from canteen food and garden
waste. Under this initiative, the compost can be reused for port
landscaping purposes and green areas. In addition, waste segregation
practices were enhanced across selected facilities through clearer
labelling, improved collection points and routine monitoring, with regular
briefings with staff and contractors focused on good housekeeping
practices to ensure comprehensive alignment amongst all. In line with
this, Johor Port had also strengthened site cleanliness and contractor
performance through structured inspections, improved reporting, and
tighter monitoring, reducing risks such as pests, leakage, contamination,
and other hygiene issues, especially around the established organic
waste areas.
Another significant milestone for 2025 was the successful conclusion
of the New Collective Agreement (Jan 2025–Dec 2029). This five-
year agreement, which was executed expeditiously, secured revised
terms and conditions of service for the Port’s peop le. This included a
new salary structure and enhanced benefit packages for employees
governed by the CA, amounting to a total of RM1.175 million.
Northport
