25 Years of PTP

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP),

a joint venture between MMC Group and APM
Terminals, has revolutionised the nation’s

trade prospects as a leading international
transhipment hub. The port, developed from
a 2,000-acre greenfield port terminal and a

1,500-acre free zone, signifies a strategic
national initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s

maritime infrastructure and compete
effectively in the regional as well as global
shipping network.

The development of PTP as a world-class
port facility was driven by Malaysia’s national
aspirations, as outlined in the Malaysian

Government’s plan to elevate Malaysia to
developed nation status by 2020, with a

world-class port facility being a key component.
By leveraging its strategic location at the
confluence of major shipping lanes in the

Straits of Malacca, PTP has steadily grown
its capabilities throughout the past 25 years,
